Nissan Winter Driving Tips

During the winter, there are many occasions to stay off the road, safely indoors.  But when you HAVE to drive in bad weather, the experts at Peruzzi Nissan offer these helpful tips.

First, no matter your skill level, driving on snowy or icy roads requires extra attention:

  • Go slow.  It takes longer to slow down on wintry roads.  On the flip side, give yourself some time to build up momentum before tackling a hill. Once you’re on that hill, don’t stop; keep steady pressure on the gas.
  • Before a storm, always check that tires are properly inflated and that you have enough gas – just in case you need to go out (and let’s hope you don’t). If you’re in a situation where you must drive a long distance in bad weather, let someone know where you’re going, and give an ETA for when you should get there.
  • Don’t spin your wheels – literally. Slow, steady acceleration is the best way to get traction on tricky surfaces. Here’s a bonus tip for winter driving: throw a bag of kitty litter in your trunk; it’s an old-school way to give tires help for getting off an icy patch.
  • Never use cruise control on slippery roads. Don’t use your parking brake, either.
  • Keep your exhaust pipe clear of snow or mud to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. For that same reason, never warm up your car in an enclosed garage.
  • If you do get stuck in the snow, don’t go walking around. Remain with your car. Put a brightly-colored piece of cloth in a window crack or on your antenna. At night, turn on the dome light. It doesn’t use a lot of juice, and helps authorities spot you in the dark.

No matter the time of year, it’s always smart to carry the following: road flares, jumper cables, a first-aid kit, spare tire with jack and tire iron, and an extra charger for your phone. A blanket and extra water may also come in handy.

If you’d like some more security of slippery winter roads, visit Peruzzi Nissan and see the full lineup or trucks and SUVs available with all wheel drive. 2018 Nissan Titan vs Nissan Titan XD

The Nissan Titan is one of the most popular trucks on the market.  But with two great models to choose from, it can be tough to pick the exact right one for you.  The experts at Peruzzi Nissan can give you an up-close look at these well-designed, hardworking trucks; but in the meantime, here’s a basic comparison.  Also know that each model is available in both single and crew cab versions.

The Nissan Titan is a gas-powered, light-duty truck that’s sturdy, but super-quick to respond.  The V8 engine rates at 390 hp and can handle 394-lb-ft of torque.  Its maximum payload capacity is 1,940 pounds with a towing capacity of 9,730 pounds. This makes the Titan a great choice if you need a truck to handle runs to the home improvement store or a weekend trip to the cabin.

The Titan XD takes things up a notch or two.  It’s heavier, full-length ladder frame allows for bigger loads (about 400 lbs. more payload and 2,700 more towing capacity than the regular Titan).  All told, the XD can carry a little over 2,000 lbs. of payload and tow a maximum of 12,030 lbs.  There are also commercial components, such as heavy-duty brakes, that make this truck a great choice for anyone using it on a jobsite.  Plus, the Titan XD offers a choice between a gas or diesel engine (the Titan is gas-only).

While both the Nissan Titan and Titan XD look very much alike, the biggest difference is in price: the 2017 Titan starts at $29,580 while the Titan XD starts at $31,590.

Nissan Rogue vs Nissan Murano

Considering a new SUV?  You can’t go wrong with two of Nissan’s most popular models, the Rogue and the Murano, both available for a test drive at Peruzzi Nissan.

Nissan is known for making some of the best SUVs on the market, and these two are no exception.  Here’s the deal on each one.

While the Nissan Rogue falls into the compact SUV category, it offers a surprising amount of cargo space (the most in its class), thanks to some innovative storage solutions.  You’ll also get plenty of legroom, a stylish interior and more importantly, an SUV with the best gas mileage in its class (26 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway).  Some of the standard features on the Rogue include: keyless entry/remote start, heated seats and multi-zone climate control, backup camera, Bluetooth and USB inputs, blind spot monitoring and stability control.

If you want to take it up a notch, the Nissan Murano is the mid-size SUV for you.  Despite its affordable price tag, it doesn’t skimp on luxury.  In fact, the interior easily competes with models that are far pricier.  Super-comfortable seating inspired by space-age technology make long drives far less tiring. A sleek, intuitive control panel is enhanced by the cabin’s soft ambient lighting.  Rear passengers can recline their own (heated) seats, and plug in to individual USB ports. And before you even get in, Remote Engine Start with Intelligent Climate Control adjusts the cabin temperature to its most comfortable. The Murano also features a powerful V-6 engine, and can tow up to 1,600 pounds.

Both the Nissan Rogue and Nissan Murano get top safety ratings from National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, and are among the most reliable vehicles on the road.

Car Payment Calculator

When you’re in the market for a car, the biggest factor is: “How much will it cost?”  This is where a Car Payment Calculator or Car Loan Calculator comes in handy. It will help you find the best loan, lender, and to make smarter budgeting decisions.  Peruzzi Nissan is another valuable resource in helping you make a solid car-buying decision.

There are so many factors when financing a car: interest rates, how many months the loan is spread over, how much money you can put down.  The Calculator reveals not only how much your monthly payments will be in different scenarios, but how much the car will really cost you in the end.

Car Payment Calculators can be found online, are free and super-simple to use.  You input several numbers, like the cost of the vehicle, current interest rate and how long over which you want to spread the payments.  This will reveal your true monthly payment.  You can tweak that number by changing how many months you want to finance the car, or how much you can put down, etc.  Once you have that information, you’ll have more power when it comes to finding a lender who can help you make it happen.

Your credit rating will also affect the kind of car loan you’ll be approved for.  Before you start shopping, it’s always a good idea to pull your credit report to check for anything that might have a negative impact on your FICO score.  And just so you know, even if your score is a little less than impressive, there are many lenders out there who know how to work with your information and get you a good loan.

The financing team at Peruzzi Nissan can help get you into a new car that fits your lifestyle and your budget.  They know all the ins and outs, so stop in to 165 Lincoln Highway in Fairless Hills, PA and let them put you behind the wheel of a great new vehicle. You can take a look at our payment calculator or stop in to learn more about payments and loans. 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve

Anyone looking for a serious luxury vehicle – one that is actually in the “affordable” category – needs to check out the Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve.  And you can find it at Peruzzi Nissan.

This gorgeous model lies somewhere in size between a large SUV and the Infiniti QX80 – but it doesn’t skimp on the details (or design) that makes both types of vehicles super-popular.  The 2018 version takes the already-loaded Armada Platinum, and kicks it up a notch – or three.

Example Number One:  the Armada Platinum takes much of its design from its luxurious, updated cousin, the Infiniti QX80.  However, the Platinum model adds in plenty of well-appointed touches like heated/cooling front seats, camera-fed Intelligent Rearview Mirrors (which shows what’s happening in the backup camera in the side mirror), a rear-seat entertainment system and adaptive cruise control.

On the inside, look for two-tone (embossed with “Platinum Reserve” on the back) leather seats and open-pore wood trim.

Number Two: on the outside, the 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve features dark-chrome 20-inch wheels, plus trim-specific chrome on the front door, grille and door handles.   And if you want to up the engine power, you can opt for all-wheel drive for a little under $3K.

The 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve model is an easy bridge between pricier SUV models, stepping up to one that delivers all the luxury touches and power that drivers are hungering for.  Stop in to Peruzzi Nissan to give it a test drive, and see how this exciting vehicle can up your game.

Nissan Leaf NISMO Concept

Fully-electric vehicles have been a hot topic in recent years, with many of them being a little bit “hit or miss.” Nissan is hoping to take electric cars to the next level with their new concept car, the Leaf NISMO, which was recently on display at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Nissan has worked hard to combine the best of future-thinking electric automotive technology with the kind of upgraded exterior features that today’s drivers hunger for. For example, the Nissan Leaf NISMO applies racing “know-how” to the car’s body to make it more aerodynamic.

The lower and wider design also includes “grippier” wheels and red-accented bumpers, sport-tuned suspension and signature red details on the black interior. Add to this an in-your-face black stripe down the center of the hood; it all contributes to the high-performance feel of this environmentally-friendly vehicle.

But many of these sexy exterior features aren’t just for looks: Nissan emphasizes that they’re specifically meant to reduce “drag” and increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle.

The Nissan Leaf NISMO also features a custom computer which helps the car accelerate instantly — at any speed.

This second-generation edition of Nissan’s “Leaf” model includes an electric motor that rates at 147 horsepower — 40 horses more over the first model – although Nissan technicians continue to strive towards improvements.

The concept Nissan Leaf NISMO unveiled in Tokyo takes the idea of electric vehicles many “next steps” forward. Look for continued improvements as Nissan works to make electric vehicles both efficient, sexy and fun to drive. Want to know more of what’s on the horizon? Stop in to Peruzzi Nissan and let their experts clue you in to what’s coming next – and how you can get in on it before everyone else. 2018 Nissan Frontier Updates

Since its introduction back in 2004, Nissan’s Frontier has been one of the company’s “go-to” models when it comes to solid mid-size trucks. For 2018, this longtime favorite (which you can check out at Peruzzi Nissan) is getting some snazzy new upgrades.

For starters, look for cruise control, A/C, a rearview camera. 5.0-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. While the base-model engine remains a 152-hp 2.5 liter I-4 paired with either five-speed manual or automatic transmission, a more powerful 261-hp 4.0-liter V6 engine is available on upgraded models.

The Crew Cab model of the new 2018 Nissan Frontier is also offering a jazzy “Midnight Edition” that features black 18-inch alloy wheels, step rails, door handles and side mirror covers. There’s also a gloss black grille, black badges and body-colored front and rear bumpers. Your three exterior colors are Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic and Glacier White.

Speaking of the Crew Cab, Nissan’s Frontier will offer 12 different variations, from the base model Frontier S Crew Cab with two-wheel drive and six-speed manual to the top-of-the-line SL Crew Cab with automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. Pricing ranges from $24,300 to $36,150.

On the more modest end of the price spectrum is the upgraded Nissan Frontier King Cab line. The economical S King Cab 4×2 features an inline four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission, and can be had for a shade under $19K. The highest-end model, the five-speed automatic Frontier King Cab comes with four-wheel drive and can be tricked out with the Pro-4X trim at $32,780 MSRP.

Whichever model you select from Nissan’s 2018 Frontier line, you’ll know you’re choosing one of the most reliable mid-size trucks on the road – and the exciting updates guarantee that it will remain a favorite. Nissan Connect instantly links you to everything from your favorite music, to real-time traffic info, security features and your personal contacts.   Press and hold the “talk” button on the steering wheel to activate basic voice commands; the added color touch screen (conveniently located on the dashboard) easily lets you access maps, music, social media and so much more.

But besides the ease with which Nissan Connect links you to the things you rely on every day, it also connects you to vital safety and maintenance information.   In an emergency (and with the Premium Package), live agents are immediately there for you at the touch of a button, or in case your airbags deploy.   If your teenager is using the car, you can also set the controls to alert you to the speed, boundaries and curfews that you set.

Check Engine Light Is On

It may happen during your morning commute, on your way to a hot date, or even picking your kids up from school. It usually occurs without a moment’s notice and is something that every driver has dealt with at some point in their driving career — the dreaded check engine light.

For many drivers, when they see this light turn on their dashboard, they might start having a panic attack and start worrying about how much money it’s going to cost to fix the issue. However, you shouldn’t stress — there are plenty of common reasons why your check engine light came on that won’t cost you an arm and a leg in car repairs.

It Could Be the Spark Plugs

Your engine is a complex piece of machinery requiring every component to work together to run. Spark plugs and wires provide the combustion in your engine that allows your car to get you from point A to point B. So when you ignore them, you’ll experience reduced performance. Plus, you could clog up your catalytic convertor, damage the O2 sensors and mess with the ignition coils.

Bad spark plugs remain a common problem that can trigger your check engine light, but it’s also one of the most routine auto repairs your local auto body repair shop performs on a regular basis.

There’s a Sensor in Your Car Experiencing Problems

Modern cars have a variety of sensors that communicate with each other to ensure your car functions at its optimal efficiency. These sensors monitor everything from the air going into your engine, how your powertrain functions and various other critical functions that keep your car moving. Issues with any of these sensors can trigger your check engine light but shouldn’t ring up a high repair bill.

One sensor in particular that can potentially trigger your check engine light is the mass airflow sensor. This particular sensor measures and monitors the air going into the engine, ensuring that the right mixture of air to fuel gets reached to start your engine properly.

Did You Remember to Tighten Your Gas Cap?

Depending on your car’s fuel economy, getting gas is a weekly venture that makes up a significant part of your weekly routine. Sometimes, you may forget to completely tighten your gas cap before you continue with the rest of your day when you’re getting gas. If left unattended long enough, this can trigger your check engine light.

When your gas cap isn’t functioning correctly, fuel vapors leak and pressure isn’t maintained inside the engine. A loose gas cap can trigger your check engine light and have you making more frequent trips to the gas station — but it’s also the cheapest fix on this list.

Issues With Your Oxygen Sensor

Your oxygen sensor measures how much unburned oxygen flows through the exhaust system at any given time. Too much or little unburned oxygen can damage other engine parts and require costly repairs. When it’s off, you’ll burn more fuel and risk damaging the spark plugs.

A faulty oxygen sensor is a frequent reason why the check engine light comes on in cars worldwide.

It’s the Catalytic Converter

Your car’s catalytic converter’s responsibility revolves around the carbon monoxide that builds up in your engine. This component converts carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide – which the environment appreciates. When your catalytic converter breaks, the engine runs hotter – and you’re virtually guaranteed to fail any emissions or diagnostic test.

If your check engine light comes on during your commute, you have options available that may not end with making costly repairs. Bring your vehicle to the Peruzzi Nissan Service Center, and we can take a look at it.

We also have service and parts specials if your vehicle needs service to fix the check engine light issue. If you’re looking to upgrade your vehicle, we also have a complete collection of new and used cars for you to browse. Stop by Peruzzi Nissan today at 165 Lincoln Highway in Fairless Hills, PA, for the answers – and the solution to your check engine light!
